We sat down with Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski for a conversation about the issues affecting working families across Central and Southern Illinois.
Nikki is no stranger to Macoupin County. We've seen her at community events, marching in our parades, meeting with residents, and holding regular monthly office hours throughout the district. She's actively engaged with the communities she represents.
In our interview, we tackled three big issues:
🔹 AFFORDABILITY: What can Congress do about rising grocery, energy, and health care costs?
🔹 RURAL HEALTH CARE: What happens to our rural hospitals and communities when Medicaid funding is cut?
🔹 WORKERS' RIGHTS: How do we protect workers, strengthen wages, and help working families get ahead?
And what does bringing federal dollars home actually look like?
Here are just a few examples of investments across the district:
📍 Macoupin County: $800,000 for Staunton's sewer improvements and $500,000 for the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Carlinville.
📍 Cahokia Heights: $7.3 million for sewer infrastructure.
📍 Springfield: More than $157 million for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project.
📍 Central Illinois: $51 million for the iFAB agricultural biomanufacturing Tech Hub.
These are just a few examples of federal investments in our communities.
